Bilateral facial paralysis secondary to trichinosis

1988
- Myocarditis and neurological disorders are the most serious complication of human infestation by Trichinella spiralis. On occasion, the unawareness of clinical manifestations, the form of presentation and the association of uncustomary neurological symptoms impedes the diagnosis of trichinosis. We report a case of trichinosis with peripheral facial diplegia, meningeal disorder and EKG alteration, with no prior intestinal symptomology. Treatment with thiabendazol and steroids resulted in a very favorable clinical evolution.
