Preventive medicine in nuclear emergencies and the role of the physician in national defense
1971
The likelihood of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons being used in war necessitates the peacetime training of the general practitioner in recognizing the symptoms of injuries caused by such weapons. He must also be able to treat the victims, institute prophylactic measures before an attack, and understand the effect of these weapons on the environment, particularly the food and water supply. Further, he should be able to protect the patients under his care from subsequent injury. (TTT)
