Indoor location technique based on visible light communications and ultrasound emitters

2015
In this paper, we explore the indoor real-time location problem, with a new approach based on combining optical and ultrasonic sensors in order to have a TDoA enough for an easy calculation. An ALOHA protocol will be also implemented so as to avoid collision problems. We are using illumination LED lamps with known positions over a room as a source of data to acquire the real position of a device. The main features of this proposal will be presented, together with the preliminary results obtained in the simulation process, as well as some issues that should be taken into consideration for a real-world experimental implementation. Finally, possible application scenarios will be also described in depth.
