The surface treatment method of a magnesium alloy

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method of a magnesium alloy by which a magnesium alloy with a releasing agent firmly stuck can economically, safely, and securely be subjected to surface treatment, and excellent corrosion resistance, electric resistance and adhesion for a coating film can be imparted thereto. SOLUTION: The surface treatment method of a magnesium alloy consists of a cleaning stage and a chemical conversion treatment stage, and in which a magnesium alloy having an aluminum content of ≥3 mass% is subjected to surface treatment. The cleaning stage consists of a dissolution treatment process composed of an acid etching process using an acid aqueous solution, and a desmutting process using an alkali aqueous solution.
