Distributed Processing with a Mainframe-Based Hospital Information System: A Generalized Solution.

1987
Abstract Over the last two years the Medical Center Information Systems Department at Duke University Medical Center has been developing a systematic approach to distributing the processing and data involved in computerized applications at DUMC. The resulting system has been named MAPS- the Micro-ADS Processing System. A key characteristic of MAPS is that it makes it easy to execute any existing mainframe ADS application with a request from a PC. This extends the functionality of the mainframe application set to the PC without compromising the maintainability of the PC or mainframe systems.
