Application of temporalis muscle partial resection in heavy frontotemporal top of head injury patients

2013
Objective To explore the application effects of temporalis muscle partial resection in the heavy frontotemporal top of head injury patients. Methods Eighty cases of heavy frontotemporal top of head injury patients in our hospital from January 2010 to September 2012 were selected and randomly divided into temporalis muscle resection in combination with standard trauma to hemicraniectomy treatment group (observation group) and standard decompressive craniectomy treatment group (control group), each group contained 40 cases. The clinical effects of these two groups were evaluated with Jennett and the Bondy prognosis standards. Results The patients with partial resection of the temporalis muscle joint standard trauma go hemicraniectomy better prognosis after treatment, fewer complications. The clinical efficacy of observation group was 85.0%, significantly higher than 67.5% of the control group, with statistically significant differences between the two groups (P 0.05); The temporalis muscle thickness of observation group was (0.08±0.02) cm, significantly lower than (1.27±0.64) cm of control group, the difference between the groups was statistically significant (P 0.05); The postoperative complication rate of observation group was 10.0%, significantly lower than the 30.0% of the patients in the control group, the group difference was statistically significant (P 0.05). Conclusion The temporalis muscle resection in combination with standard trauma to hemicraniectomy treatment has accurate effects to the heavy frontotemproal top of head injury patients, and is worthy of clinical promotion and applications.
