Ray tracing and energy-deposition profile during ECR plasma heating in the L-2 stellarator

Calculations on the ECR absorption of electromagnetic waves in the plasma of the L-2 stellarator are reported. A numerical simulation yields results which explain the qualitative features of experiments carried out in the L-2 stellarator in terms of the single-pass absorption of a quasioptical beam of extraordinary waves.
