LPV Model-Based Parameter Estimation For Damaged Asymmetric Aircraft

2020
Online parameter estimation plays an important role in the design of fault-tolerant flight control systems. In this paper, we present a new parameter estimation technique for the reduced parameter LPV (Linear parameter-varying system) model with aircraft structural damage. Specifically, an LPV model is proposed for the modeling of the damaged aircraft, and prior information is introduced to simplify the model, then an RLS (Recursive Least squares)-based parameter estimation method is designed. By employing the proposed LPV model, it not only reduces the online computational load significantly compared with that of typical existing methods but also improves the estimation performance based on reducing the parameters to be estimated. At last, the closed-loop simulation with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration generic transport model under a left-wing tip damage scenario is given.
