Medio siglo largo del Polígono Dirigido de Ocharcoaga (1959-1964). Luces y sombras de un barrio desarrollista

espanolEn 1959, era aprobada la creacion de un poligono dirigido en Ocharcoaga, Bilbao, con 3.676 viviendas y una serie de edificios dotacionales. En lo que a la ordenacion del conjunto se refiere, los ar-quitectos adoptaron la Carta de Atenas y los planteamientos de los Congres International d’Architecture Moderne, mientras que la resolucion de los edificios fue llevada a cabo con criterios basados en el mini-mo existencial, la economia y el soleamiento. El objeto de este articulo es, en primer lugar, identificar las influencias bajo las cuales fue desarrollado el proyecto, en segundo lugar, dar cuenta de la dialectica surgida entre la implantacion de los bloques y la voluntad de preservar las caracteristicas del terreno, y por ultimo (CIAM), constatar que a pesar de tratarse de tipos edificatorios novedosos, su construccion no vino acompanada de significativos avances tecnologicos English: In 1959 a residential estate was set up in Ocharcoaga, Bilbao, by the initiative of the nation. In this place, a new quarter would be built, housing 3.676 dwellings and a lot of service buildings. The architects took up approaches of the Athens Charter, as well as the rationalist approaches of the CongresInternational d’Architecture Moderne (CIAM). Meanwhile, the resolution of the buildings was carried out in accordance with the criteria of the “existence minimum”, the economy and the sun exposure conditions. The object of this article is, first, to identify the influences under which the Project was developed, second, to demonstrate the dialectical relationship between the layout of the blocks and the will to preserve the characteristics of the land, and finally, to observe that despite being innovative building types, they construction did not imply the incorporation of new systems
