3-D seismic imaging in real-time; what's stopping us?

At the very birth of the petroleum geophysical industry, seismic data were acquired, processed and interpreted right in the field. The geophysicist’s “computer” was his trusty junior assistant, who developed films and picked events by the campfire each night. The process was undeniably real‐time, tangible and invigorating.
