Studies of Neutrino Oscillations at Accelerators
2001
Until relatively recently a review of the search for neutrino oscillations at accelerators typically would include a statement such as “From first principles, there is no preferred region in the Δm 2-sin2 δparameter space, and therefore the whole has to be investigated experimentally.” Using a two-flavor oscillation, sin2 δ is the mixing angle giving the amplitude of the oscillation, and \(\Delta {m^2} = \left| {m_2^2 - m_1^2} \right|\) determines the oscillation length,
$$L = \frac{{4\pi Eh}}{{\Delta {m^2}{c^3}}} - 2.48\left( {\frac{E}{{MeV}}} \right)\left( {\frac{{e{V^2}}}{{\Delta {m^2}}}} \right)meters $$
