All optical switching of integrated hybrid distributed feedback bistable laser

A novel type of optical bistable circuit using both optical and electrical feedback to achieve bistable operation is reported. The circuit provides genuine optical gain, can be triggered by optical inputs over a large spectral range and minimises signal feedback to previous circuits.
