Contour parallel milling strategy is still widely used in 2.5D roughing operations. However, in the case of equidistant tool paths, the tool load strongly depends on the contour’s shape. The paper presents how the cutter engagement can be determined for different contour milling conditions to describe the interaction between the workpiece and the milling tool.
