Effect of Various Polyethylene Structures on Film Extrusion

1998
Viscoelastic behaviors and film extrusion are concerned in this study. Several materials are tested. They are a low density polyethylene, a linear low density polyethylene, and two metallocene polyethylenes. Molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, storage modulus, and loss modulus have been measured to interpret the viscoelastic behaviors. The energy consumption and output rates are described at various screw revolutions. A wide range of drawdown ratios, blowup ratios with frost-line heights in film blowing is investigated in order to determine the region of bubble stability.
