Interleukin-17 and cutaneous autoimmune diseases

The nature of cutaneous autoimmune diseases is still unclear, and at present no specific or effective drug has been found for their treatment. Intedeukin-17 (IL-17) belongs to IL-17 pro-inflammatory cytokine family and is secrete, d by Th17 cells. It plays an important role in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and is expected to bring a breakthrough in the research of skin autoimmune diseases. Further studies on the role of IL-17 in autoimmune diseases will favor the understanding about their pathogenesis, as well as the search for new treatment targets and approaches to these diseases.
