Managing grazing in forage–livestock systems

2020
Abstract Because land grazed by livestock is the largest single land-use type and forage is the most consumed livestock feed in the world, the implications of grazing management are highly significant. Grazing management is the manipulation of grazing in pursuit of a specific objective or set of objectives, and the tools that we can use to manipulate grazing include grazing intensity, stocking method, and timing of grazing. This chapter describes the science and practice of using these three tools in grassland agriculture.
