Is Doris georgiensis García et al. 1993 a distinct species of dorid nudibranch

2005
The reproductive system and radular morphology of several specimens of Doris collected in the Antarctic Ocean were examined in an attempt to clarify the taxonomic status of Doris kerguelenensis and its possible synonym Doris georgiensis. A comparative analysis of the samples was conducted to find correlations between the anatomy of the bursa copulatrix and variations in the radular morphology and external features of these two species. Some consistent differences were found, suggesting the possibility of the existence of two distinct species, but further investigations are necessary to substantiate these conclusions.
