Mapping Surface Plasmons on a Single Metallic Nanoparticle

Spatially resolved electron energy loss spectroscopy experiments have given the electromagnetic eigenmodes of individual metallic nanoparticles. The electromagnetic local density of states has been measured with 10 nm spatial accuracy over the whole near-infrared/ultraviolet regime.
