ADVANCED HIGH DENSITY LANDING SYSTEM STUDY

1962
Abstract : A study was made of an advanced high d nsity landing sys em. The ideal army aircraft landing sy tem ould be manually controlled and not basically automatic. Many years of computer development will be necessary before an automatic flight control system can equal the human operator's reliabili y in adaptive, predictive, and non-line r control ability. Data display requirements for a pilot controlled landing system are discussed, and it is believed that essentially such displays must be provided for syst m monitoring purposes before an automatic landing syste will be operationally acceptable. adv nced high density landing system guidance requir c n b st b fulfilled by two or more scanning beams and one DME NAVAID. A kinematic approach to a solution of the automatic landing syst m problem is appende (Author)
