An air-filled Fabry-Perot cavity antenna for Q-band access and backhaul communication networks

2016
A leaky wave antenna operating in the Q-band is proposed for access and backhaul communication networks. The antenna is characterised by an air-filled Fabry-Perot cavity. It is fed by a patch that is excited by a coupling slot and a stripline. The structure includes a stripline to coaxial transition. The radiating structure has been optimised to provide high gain. The antenna has been manufactured and tested. A directive beam pattern has been measured with a gain of 19.8 dBi at 41.5 GHz.
