Co-infected viruses in HFMD patients of Anhui Fuyang in 2013

Objective To study the children HFMD co-infected with 6 viruses in Fuyang of Anhui Province in the winter of 2013. Methods Forty-five serum samples of HFMD hospitalized cases were collected according to the diagnostic criteria of HFMD in Fuyang from November 2013 to December 2013. Serum IgM of ADV, RSV, B19, HCMV, HPIVs, and HSV were detected with ELISA method. Results Thirty cases (67.7%) co-infected with ADV, 8 cases (17.8%) co-infected with RSV, 8 cases (17.8%) co-infected with parvovirus B19, 3 cases (6.7%) co-infected with HCMV, 1 case (2.2%) co-infected with HSV among 45 samples were found in 45 HFMD cases from November 2013 to December 2013. No HPIVs IgM was detected in these samples. Two or more viruses' co-infections in HFMD also were found in this study. Conclusion Co-infected viruses in HFMD cases are mainly ADV, RSV, and B19 in Fuyang in 2013 winter.
