K and Mg salts of L-aspartic acid (Aspara, produced by Tanabe Seiyaku) were administered to patients suffering radiation sickness during radiation therapy. It was found to be very effective. An imitation Aspara was tried and found to be less effective than true Aspara. No radioprotective or radiorecovering effects of Aspara were observed on female mice given 600 r of whole-body irradiation with a 210-kvp x-ray unit. (TCO)
