Comment on: Li HW, Wong CY, Yeung WS, Ho PC, Ng EH. Serum anti-Mullerian hormone level is not altered in women using hormonal contraceptives. Contraception 2011;83:582-5.

2012
This article discusses concern for a research study that showed no statistically significant difference of AMH concentrations in pre and post treatment women. The study failed to report p-values for the statistics given as well as details regarding the heterogeneous study population. Moreover the menstrual cycles during hormone use were not times properly which threatens the validity of the report. While the authors did not consider this a concern other audiences may disagree. It is important to mention hormonal specifications and fluctuations. While AMH is useful for the determination of menopause and various other clinical tests the study could have benefitted from more reliable reporting methods. Copyright © 2011 Elsevier Inc.
