Communicating at the Top: A Conversation with Women Leading Government

2008
As county officials your calendars are bloated. Most of your hectic days are spent surrounded by very diverse people with one thing in common – they want to please you. Many of them report to you. Where do you go to vent? Who provides you with candid feedback and that all-important reality check? What management styles and communication skills best foster an honest, supportive team to help “keep it real?” Who do you trust and turn to when you need to process ideas, management issues, or professional quandaries? How do you develop a partnership between Elected and Appointed Officials? The core of this facilitated panel discussion will last about 90 minutes and bring to light the secrets of successful women in county government leadership who are recognized for their ability to meet these challenges and their mastery of communications skills that may be especially important for women executives.
