Uso do adesivo à base de etil-cianoacrilato na reparação óssea *

2004
Intense research has been performed in an attempt to re- place conventional, rigid fixation materials for bone repair; one alternative for such replacement would be the applica- tion of an adhesive. The aim of this study is to perform a histological assessment of the use of ethyl-cyanoacrylate- based adhesive (Super Bonder ® ), that is widely available in the Brazilian market, in rat tibial fissures. The sample con- sisted of 15 male gender Holtzman type Rattus norvegicus albinos. After anesthesia, a 1.5-cm incision was made on the tibia; with bone exposure a transverse fissure (3 mm/1 mm) was performed by a steel disk and low-rev burr. The treated side (TG) received adhesive, and the control side ( CG), nothing. After seven, 15, and 30 days the animals were sac- rificed and their tibiae were removed and fixed in Bouin's solution for 48 hours, and then processed by routine histo- logical technique for HE staining. At seven, 15, and 30 days there were differences between the groups: in the TG, adhe- sive inside the cavity, absence of inflammatory cells, areas of newly formed bone with osteoblasts, osteocytes, and blood vessels; and in the CG, a more advanced stage fissure heal-
