Production method of steel for cold heading blind rivets

2010
The invention specifically relates to steel for large flange blind rivets and a production method thereof. The steel comprises the following components by weight percent: 0.02-0.15% of C, 0.03-0.10% of Si, 0.5-1.5% of Mn, not more than 0.020% of P, not more than 0.015% of S, 0.01-0.07% of Al, 0.001-0.008% of Ca and the balance of Fe and impurities; and the production method comprises the following steps: smelting; refining in a converter: adding aluminum-manganese-iron alloy once at the beginning of refining, adding Al wires at 5-10 minutes before the end of the refining, and adding Si-Ca wires at 2.5-7 minutes before the end of the refining; continuous casting: heating a continuously cast billet; rolling: finish rolling and wire laying; and Stelmor cooling. The production method can reduce the breaking rate when drawing wires and the cold heading cracking rate, and the production process is simple and conductive to popularization; and the production method can improve the strength, save precious alloys and reduce the production cost through the process of C and Mn reinforcement, controlled rolling and controlled cooling.
