Het 'frozen conflict' in Oekraïne : een balans

2016
As unsuspected as the Ukrainian crisis broke out in 2014 and escalated to the Russian annexation of the Crimean peninsula, the conflict in the Eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, MH-17 and mutual sanctions, it seemed asof the crisis had stabilized in 2016. On the frontline between the two Russian-backed 'people's republics' of Donetsk and Luhansk there is still some occasional fighting, but large scale military operations are no longer a daily occurence. At the same time, in august 2016, there were renewed tensions on the border between Ukraine and the Crimea. A ballance and careful scenario for the future.
