Fixed-point Arithmetic for a Microcomputer Architecture Course

This paper raises the point of employing solid fundamental knowledge within professional courses. Considering a case study in microcomputer architecture education, the authors address fixed-point arithmetic for the teaching of numerical operations in small microcontroller units (MCUs). A concentrated training framework is proposed, attempting to enhance traditional tutoring methods on 8-bit MCUs number representation and arithmetic.
