Controlled modification of organic polymer surfaces by continuous wave far-ultraviolet (185 nm) and pulsed-laser (193 nm) radiation: XPS studies

1984
Controlled modification of organic polymer surfaces by far ultraviolet radiation (continuous wave and pulsed laser) was investigated. By use of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, it was concluded that far ultraviolet continuous wave irradiation of the studied polymers in air leads to rapid oxidation of the surface, whereas laser ablation leads to a depletion of oxygen at the surface. 16 references, 2 figures, 1 table.
