Estrogens and Endometrial Cancer-Reply

1977
In Reply.— Dr Austin's data were correctly quoted in the article. The apparent discrepancy between Austin's data and those quoted by Christopherson can largely be accounted for by the fact that the Austin data were not age-adjusted rates, but rather age-specific incidence rates, a point that should have been specified in my article for clarification. Use of ageadjusted rates for examining trends in incidence of endometrial cancer obscures the effect of age, and is therefore inappropriate when considering this generally age-specific (postmenopausal), age-related disease.
