Aspects of graft co- and homo-polymerization of acrylic and methacrylic acids initiated from the volume of a solid polymer matrix☆

1990
Abstract Co- and homo-polymerization of acrylic and methacrylic acids initiated by redox decomposition of the hydroperoxide chemically fixed within the volume of a solid polyethylene and fluoroplast matrix has been investigated. The effective reactivity of the comonomers in homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions has been evaluated. From the results of study of the patterns of joint graft polymerization of the acrylic acids on different film materials, the authors established the non-additivity of the sorption-diffusion behaviour of the comonomers and its dependence on the morphology and chemical nature of the polymer matrix.
