Efficiency of oil-soluble corrosion inhibitors under conditions of corrosion and mechanical stress

1986
In the course of operation of vehicles and various mechanisms with engines operating on medium-sulfur fuels and oils with additives that contain sulfur and chlorine, acidic products are formed. This paper investigates the following oil-soluble corrosion inhibitors: two inhibitors of the sulfonate type, an amine salt of synthetic fatty acids (KhA), a fatty acid amide (B) functioning as a fast-acting water-displacing components, a phosphorus-containing additive (P), and a synergistic formulation of these additives selected according to the principle of combining components with different types of operational mechanisms. The retardation coefficient and the inhibitor effect of extracts from the various additives on No. 10 steel at 60 C were also determined. Results are presented.
