Targeting Healthcare Disparities: An Integrated Model to Improve Treatment Rates of Dyslipidemia in African American Patients

2005
The study shows that an integrated, house staff-led process-of-care strategy can significantly improve the treatment rates of high-risk African American patients with dyslipidemia and should improve CVD morbidity and mortality. This model can be readily integrated into an ambulatory clinic; however, future studies should evaluate the cost effectiveness of this strategy by utilizing similar models using more potent or higher-dose statins that are now routinely available.
