Influence of the accelerating forces on the distribution of a liquid in a porous body

1989
The influence of external fields on the distribution of a wetting liquid in aporous solid is of interest both in itself and from the point of view of various technical applications. In particular, without taking into consideration this influence it is impossible to design liquid metal composite electrical contact materials [i], the parts of which are used under the action of various accelerating forces. Such materials consist of a refractory skeleton formed by sintering of powder or fibers [2] and a low-melting metal impregnating this skeleton. Data on the distribution of a liquid in a porous body is also necessary for evaluation of the possibility of filling of holes and gaps with a molten material in formation of parts of complex form of a pseudoalloy by the impregnation method.
