Genetic diversity of High Molecular Weight Glutenin Subunits in Triticum timopheevii Zhuk.

2010
In order to provide basic materials for the quality improvement and detect the HMW-GS components of Triticum timopheevii,43 T.timopheevii were evaluated by means of SDS-PAGE.There were 2,3,1 and 2 different Ax,Ay,Gx and Gy subunits, and 5 HMW-GS combinations [Ax2*,Gx(A);Ax 2*+Ay(C),Gx(B)+Gy;Ax1+Ay(B),Gx(B)+Gy;Ax1+Ay(A),Gx(A);Ay(A),Gx(B)],Among which, combination Ax2*,Gx(A),accounting for 81.40% of the total T.timopheevii accessions, presented most frequently. The expressed Ay and Gy subunits were detected in T.timopheevii accessions, amounting to 27.90% and 6.98%,respectively.These results indicated that the Glu-A1 had higher genetic diversity than the Glu-G1.The utilization strategy of these subunits was discussed.
