Variability of bronchial mucus membranes sialytransferases mRNA levels in patients with COPD

2008
Objective To investigate the variability of bronchial mucus membranes sialytransferases mRNA levels in the patients with lung cancer between complicated with COPD and with normal lung function and without chronic diseaseas of respiratory system. Methods After lung cancer exairesis, mucus membranes of bronchi far away from tumor were disconnected. The mRNA levels of four common mucins sialytransferase were analyzed with reverse transcription-polymerase chain raction. Results There were not different mRNA levels of bronchial mucus membranes sialytransferases 3 Gal Ⅰ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ and sialytransferases 6 Gal Ⅰ in the patients with COPD and with normal lung function. Conclusion It is much related to infection that infectibility to bacteria and increased terminal sialic acids of airway mucins during acute exacerbation of COPD,not COPD specificity.
