어머니의 행복감 및 양육행동과 유아의 행복감 간 관계

2014
This study identified the relationships among mothers` happiness, parenting behaviors, and children`s happiness. The study inquired about the correlations among mothers` happiness, parental behaviors, and children`s happiness and the relative explanatory power of mothers` happiness and parenting behaviors to children`s happiness. A sample of 265 kindergarteners aged 4-5 years and their 265 mothers residing in Samcheok and Busan cities conducted questionnaires. The results indicated that, first, the correlation between mother`s and child`s happiness was positively significant. Second, both child`s and mother`s happiness positively correlated with her supervision, rational explanation, and affection in parenting. But child`s happiness negatively correlated with her neglect parenting whereas mother`s happiness negatively correlated with over-involvement in her parenting. Lastly, among the sub-domains of mothers` happiness and parenting, only family financial capacity, and her supervision and neglect parenting were significant factors explaining child`s happiness. Conclusively, mothers who perceived themselves to be happy, it is likely that they would attend their young children with optimal levels of supervision, rational explanation, and affections but with less negligence. These positive parenting behaviors would then result in making their children well-off.
