THE TRANSLATION OF ENGLISH IDIOMS

Idioms are important and special phenomenon in language.They best reflect the culture of a nation and they have been described as the crystallization of language.Idioms have both national characteristics and specific linguistic features.Therefore,the translation of English idioms,which is essence of English language and culture,occupies a prominent place in the whole translation.Meanwhile,English idioms bring about difficulties in translation.Some specific methods and strategies may be applied in the translation of English idioms.At last,this thesis offers some points for attention.
