Gravity interpretation using multi-scale analysis in the Algiers area (Algeria)

2015
The aim of this study is to examine the contribution of multi-scale analysis to the interpretation of gravity map of the Algiers area. The method used is based on the continuous wavelet transform of the first horizontal derivative of gravity anomaly field signal with the first derivative of a Gaussian, considered analyzing wavelet. Software, based on the calculation of the maximum values of Shannon entropy, allowed us to localize the sources. Overall, the results obtained on synthetic and real data show that multi-scale analysis is more accurate than Euler deconvolution. Its application to the data, extracted from the gravity map of residual anomalies of the Algiers area, highlighted practically all faults and contacts observed at the surface.
