WHY 3D ULTRASOUND AND HYSTEROSCOPY SHOULD REPRESENT THE GOLD STANDARD FOR DIAGNOSIS AND MANAGEMENT OF UTERINE OSSEOUS METAPLASIA? CASE REPORT

2019
Osseous metaplasia of the endometrium represents a disorder of the uterus characterized by the presence of mature or immature bone in the uterine cavity. In most of the cases infertility or menorrhagia can be present, although sometimes this condition can be asymptomatic. Endovaginal ultrasound and particularly three-dimensional ultrasound are very important diagnostic tools. Hysteroscopic removal of the bony fragments helps in treating both infertility and menorrhagia. We present a case of 28 years-old women with osseous metaplasia and uterine synechia. Three-dimensional ultrasound was useful for the diagnosis and both affections were solved by hysteroscopic approach
