Oxidation and oxidation products of encapsulated aluminum nanopowders
2020
The encapsulation and the oxidation of encapsulated aluminum nanoparticles has been studied. The effect of the aluminum nanopowders encapsulation on their reactivity has been studied. The encapsulation has been shown to enhance the stability of aluminum nanopowders with retaining high reactivity, to alter the chemical composition and morphology of the oxidation products. High potency of acetylacetone as encapsulating ligand has been shown. Acetylacetone encapsulated aluminum nanopowders give oxidation products being mainly rod shaped. Nanorods are resulted from nanoparticles association in ramified structures. Involvement of nitrogen in oxidation process has been shown for encapsulated nanopowders. Reactivity towards oxygen has been quantitatively evaluated with use of thermal analysis methods.
