A Simulation Platform for Software Defined Integrated Space Ground Network

2019
Software defined integrated space ground networks are playing an indispensable role in the next generation network. In this paper, we proposed a simulation platform of SDN enabled space ground integrated networks. On this platform, most satellites are switches to forward the data based on flow-tables provided by SDN controllers located on the highest layer to take responsibility of centralized control. In this paper, we analyze the regional coverage performance through STK (Satellite Tool Kit) for the integrated space ground network architecture with multi-layer satellites and the communication analysis is carried out by using the SDN simulation software Mininet. The paper shows that, with collecting congestion status of satellites, this platform has a good performance of optimizing end-to-end delay and packet loss.
