Investigation on the multiscale stick-slip phenomenon of cotton fabric

2021
Abstract Stick-slip phenomenon is significant for the formation of fabric and related products. In this study, the influence of the velocity and load on stick-slip phenomenon of fabric at different scales are investigated. Results show that, at the microscopic scale, the stick-slip phenomenon weakens with an increase in the load or velocity by analyzing the number and amplitude of the microscopic stick-slip peaks. At the mesoscopic scale, the stick-slip phenomenon weakens with an increase in the load or velocity by analyzing the difference between the mesoscopic peak and the valley friction coefficients. At the macroscopic scale, the stick-slip phenomenon is enhanced with an increase in the load, while weakening with an increase in the velocity by analyzing the lag angle.
