This report explains the pilot psycho-social intervention carried out in Barcelona (Spain) in 1999 and 2000, whose aim was to encourage the integration into the Catalan society of young Spaniards and immigrants under tutelage from the Public Administration, by means of a volunteer. The intervention involved two action lines. Firstly, the selection of youngsters under tutelage susceptible of taking part in it. Secondly, and by means of the experiential group, the selection of volunteers, their support and training in assistance abilities. The results of this intervention were the development of specific bonds between the volunteers and the youngsters under tutelage, the structure of a group of volunteers who helped each other in these bonds, and finally, the establishment of collaboration with the tutelary centres.
