THE EFFECT OF VEHICLE STRUCTURE CHARACTERISTICS ON OCCUPANT RESTRAINT PARAMETERS A PARAMETRIC STUDY

1973
A simple, one-dimensional model was constructed of the crash of a vehicle and restrained occupant for the purposes of better understanding the relationship between the response of the vehicle structure and the restraint system. The equations of motion of the model were derived and a computer program written to produce both printed and graphical solutions to these equations. The model and computer program are explained and the results discussed.
