Effects of Femur and Pelvis Material Parameters on Hip Replacement

2019
Numerical models for a new generation of hip prosthesis were established because models of replacements with a pelvis are not described in the literature. The stress and strain distribution in the bone and prosthesis were studied by numerical simulation and the results validated experimentally. Numerical simulation was also used to study the outcome when placing the same hip joint into bone of different densities. The results showed that the numerical simulations of hip models with a pelvis were more consistent with a physical model. The mechanical parameters of bone density could significantly affect the stress and strain distribution of the bone and prosthesis.
