Political parties and policy formulation: perception of party membership in Mexico

How similar or different are the perceptions of party membership about the relations of political parties and the government in the formulation of policy? What are these perceptions to the internal life of parties and the political system? Based on these questions, the work collects, systematizes and interprets evidence on the expectations of the party membership on policy. The results show that the presence of certain components of membership identity increases the likelihood that the activist think that the government should formulate policies according to the party's programmatic agenda, even get into focus of the electoral platform and party agenda. Regardless of whether there is a party is in government, activist believe that the formation of the cabinet must prevail partisan paths to select the top elected officials.
