Bushfires: Is the 2019/2020 bushfire season a portent for the future?

This article initially - and briefly - reviews the Australian weather pattern for 2019. It then analyses the Emergency Response Stage initiatives which bushfire-affected communities experienced during the height of the 2019/2020 bushfire season, and goes on to examine the longer Recovery Stage initiatives through which individuals and communities are currently working. It then briefly looks at Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) requirements that are needed for the future - including the requirement for robust climate change action.
