Detection of the ovulatory-luteinizing hormone surge with an enzyme-linked immunospecific human urinary luteinizing hormone assay: applicability to nonhuman primates.

1990
Because of the antigenic similarities between the gonadotropin hormones of various primates species, and the convenience of a rapid urinary enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay for human urinary LH, we asked: Will the commercially available human LH surge detection kits cross-react with monkey LH sufficient enough to serve as a laboratory research tool? We tested three over-the-counter human ovulation predictor test kits, Ovustick. First Response, and QTest as methods for detection of the monkey LH surge and ovulation in nonhuman primates
