Formation of boron nitride during carbothermal reduction
1990
in this work, investigations were carried out into the process of formation of disperse boron nitride from a charge prepared by mixing in a solid solution H3BO ~ and sucrose in concentrations ensuring the formation of the boron oxide and carbon in amounts required for the reaction (i) to take place. Subsequent heat treatment of the "spongy" mass formed as a result of evaporation of the solution was carried out in a nitrogen flow in the temperature range 473-1723 K. in most cases, the holding time at the selected temperatures was 1 h. Heat treatment of "pure" sucrose was carried out in the same conditions.
